Social events

A number of social events took place alongside the main conference event.

Drinks reception

A drinks reception with light snacks took place on 18 September 2019, from 6pm – 7.30pm. It was located in The Diamond at the University of Sheffield.

Banquet dinner

There was a banquet dinner at 6pm on 19 September 2019. This took place at the Kelham Island Museum. It started with a drinks reception and museum visit.

Kelham Island Museum

Visitors had the opportunity to visit the Kelham Island Museum before the banquet dinner. Kelham Island Museum is located in one of the city’s oldest industrial districts, the museum stands on a man-made island over 900 years old.

Kelham Island Museum was opened in 1982 to house the objects, pictures and archive material representing Sheffield’s industrial story. Visitors saw the 12,000hp River Don Engine, the most powerful working steam engine in Europe, in steam!
